Lina is overwhelmed. Aren’t we all sometimes? Too many voices, too many smells, too many people… when the world becomes chaotic, Lina finds her sanctuary inside the rock. Inside this cozy fortress, she surrounds herself with everything that restores her: her favorite books, noise-canceling headphones, and comforting sensory treasures.
Lina inside the rock is a tender exploration of neurodivergence, sensory overload, and self-regulation. It is a quiet reminder that needing space doesn't mean being different and a invitation to discover what we all need to feel grounded again.
The story about neurodivergence, which can be understood by anyone.
Helps young readers identify what comfort items, scents, and sensory inputs they need when the world gets too loud.
Reassures children that feeling overstimulated is completely natural and that everyone needs a quiet space to recharge sometimes.
Just like Lina, I get overwhelmed quite easily. (And to be honest, I also just really love drawing rocks!) Creating this book was a wonderful reason to tell a piece of my own neurodivergent story. My path started in medical school, where I originally wanted to become a psychiatrist. Today, I use art and picturebooks to explore human perception, sensory experiences, and all the fantastic spaces in between.
