Sasha Pshenychna is a Berlin-based multidisciplinary artist who explores human perception through visual storytelling.

Sasha's path as an artist began in medical school, where she originally set out to become a psychiatrist to understand human beings on a deeper level and learn how we each perceive reality. Over time, her search to understand perception shifted from clinical study to visual storytelling, finding that picture books and drawing allowed her to explore those same questions from a different angle.

This fascination with how we experience the world is deeply personal. As a neurodiverse artist with synesthesia, and as a migrant who has adapted to new surroundings, moving from her hometown of Kyiv to Berlin, Sasha has experienced firsthand how profoundly different our individual perceptions can be. Her current work centers on these sensory experiences, human perception of our surroundings, and the fantastic spaces in between.

Alongside her visual practice, she lead creative workshops that encourage children and adults to trust their own ways of seeing. Because no two people experience the world in the exact same way, she designs her images and stories to be open-ended. Sasha celebrate the diversity of our individual inner universes and invite free association, personal interpretation, and wonder. She is an active member of the picturebooklab and berlinpicturebooks collectives, contributing to the local illustration scene.
